Radiesse Dermal Filler: Immediate Volume and Longterm Collagen Production
It’s no secret that over time, we lose collagen and elastin in our skin. It’s something that we all deal with as we age. Luckily, there are options. The fastest and most effective way to bring volume back to hollow areas are with dermal fillers. But which dermal filler is best for you?
We have talked about hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler which will add immediate fullness to specific areas. We’ve recently talked about Sculptra, which is Poly-L-lactic acid-based and is injected into the skin. The body naturally absorbs it over time, which then triggers a response in the body that causes a boost in collagen production. This allows for long-term results of collagen production.
Another great option of dermal filler is Radiesse. This filler works similarly to Sculptra in that they both trigger the body to create more collagen. Radiesse is also an aesthetic dermal filler that is injected directly into the skin, in the area of desired fullness. However, Radiesse’s base consists of gel-like, Calcium hydroxylapatite.
How does Radiesse Work?
Calcium hydroxylapatite is similar in structure to teeth and bones. When injected into the skin, it activates fibroblasts to make more collagen without triggering an inflammatory response. The tiny particles of calcium attach to the dermal tissues, temporarily, acting as the site of the new collagen production.
This allows for immediate volume results in addition to long-term, cumulative results as your body naturally produces more collagen.
Areas Treated
Radiesse can be used to treat areas in the lower face, such as smile lines (nasolabial folds), corners of the mouth (causing downward turned frown), marionette lines, prejowl folds (causes sagging jowls), and chin wrinkles. Radiesse can also be used to improve the contour of the jawline, and even on the back of the hands. This can minimize the visibility of veins and tendons that appear as we age.
